Welcome back to The Making of Rat Attack, a preview of Pure Entertainment's forthcoming PlayStation game.

Since the last instalment, the game was shown (in a very early version) at e3 - it was very well received, constantly being described as 'the most original game of the show' and 'a breath of fresh air'. With the demo out of the way, the team can now concentrate on polishing the gameplay and special effects, to make sure Rat Attack is something really special.

To help this, we've put some extra programmers (Simon, Richard and Malcolm) and another artist (Doug) to the team, to help add that final polish we all love. There will be a lot of late nights ahead, but it will all be worth it when the game is finally released.

At the moment, we're working on improving the lighting effects, and implementing a huge variety of special effects, such as vortexes, smoke, lasers, lava pools, water, lightning and much more. We've also made some improvements to the collision detection and camera - it's absolutely crucial to get these just right in a game as fast as Rat Attack.

The next major demo is at ECTS in London - by then, the whole game will be finished. You'll see all the levels, Bennett and Yippy Yappy the dogs, King Scarab and a whole host of bonus games. Next time, we'll take a look at the game rules…..see you in two weeks time!
